Praying for presents... hmmmmm

Overheard this morning...
Maddy ~ "Dear Jesus. Please tell Santa I love him, and that I would like a Hannah Montana costume and wig for next Christmas. I know he listens to you. Thanks, and I love you too."

Good Times with Maddy and Seb

Maddy~ Hey, Seb! I found my bag of makeup from Nana... wanna play?
Seb~ Okay! I choose.... That one!!!
Maddy~ Okay, here we go, I will just put back this one. You know you picked the SAME color as me? Isn't that great?
Maddy~ Seb, you have to do this with your mouth, okay, so that I can put the lipstick on right. Just like me, okay?
Seb~ Like this?
Maddy~ NO!!! Oh, no! Now it is on your teeth!!
Maddy~ Go like this!
Seb~ How do I look? Do I look adorable?
Seb~ Maddy, can we put more on? I will do it this time.
Seb~ Now it is my turn to kiss you, Maddy!
Seb~ Mwah!
Maddy~ Now it looks like Nana was here! I have lips on my cheek, and so do you!
Yet another bribery moment in the life of our homeschooling family.

The Very Best Things About Birthdays

Yesterday we went out to Michaels on a fun gift card spending trip, then on to my Mom's for some babysitting. She bought me the most BEAUTIFUL yellow roses (18 of them!!!) in all stages of bloom, so lovely. Then Dean and I headed to the Keg for our annual dinner there, where we enjoyed the surf and turf, yum! We decided that the kids and the Grandma should get to share in some yummy goodness too, so we went to the Marble Slab Creamery and bought an out of this world cake to eat! What a great night!
This morning I was woken up by my two cute kids singing and giggling a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Then they proceeded to give me my beautiful gifts; each one had carefully colored a mug, especially for me, and they each picked out a little figurine that they wanted to paint with me. So we did! Here are the fruits of their labor...

5 Things That Should Be Outlawed On One's Birthday

1.) Laundry.
any kind of laundry including folding, washing, drying, putting away, or even staring at piles of the stuff.

2.) Congestion.
any kind... traffic, nasal, lung, none of it is appropriate on one's birthday.

3.)Chores.
cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, all of it. NO WAY.

4.)Cooking.
unless one loves to cook, one should not have to cook on one's birthday. Especially if one is not eating due to one's congestion.

5.)Unseasonable weather.
really. 5 degrees at the end of March?? UNSEASONABLE

Lighthouse Park, at The Point, on Sunday

I (heart) this picture. I (heart) the sounds of the rocks rolling over each other as the waves pushed and pulled them. I (heart) the fact that my two children and I shared a few minutes of silence as we listened and stared. I (heart) this picture.

My Girl, Up a Tree, or Lighthouse Park on Sunday

Sunday at The Point

On Sunday, Dean (literally) crammed all our bikes into the back of the van. He had to remove the front tires of of both our bikes to do so, which impressed the kids no end! We went for a bike ride, got some gas and then headed to the candy store in Ladner for a treat. Good times!
Maddy is in her "I will pose, just a sec, mom!" mode. Not my favorite mode... I have to be MUCH sneakier now.
If you look really closely at Seb's face, you can see he has his "I am about to poop" face on. And he did. Hooray for Doggie bags strategically placed around the park!
Handsome biker guy I flirted with... oh! wait! That's my hubby!
Getting in one last ride before heading home.
